Welcome everybody to the newest Wild Hogs tour blog. Unlike most of the previous tours, and indeed the last one, this one has not been sitting in the background waiting to be released. Sure, I had a general route planned but none of the other bits and bobs surrounding it, thanks in no short part to Covid-19. Having to cancel the European tour twice in a year and then, rather hastily for me, create the UK tour, has meant little time was available to spend on this, The Italian Job.
Once back from the UK tour though, I was able to concentrate on the usual tour tasks, booking hotels, creating the blog, etc, so now I am in a position where all hotels are booked and I can start fine tuning the plans, routes, etc.
Why Italy, I hear you ask. The answer is simple. Next year, Grizzly has a big birthday, and he said that for that birthday he'd like to tour Italy, and just like the genie in the lamp, his wish was my command. Like all these tours, Grizzly leaves the detail to me, so until he sees the route I have planned, he hasn't a clue where we will be visiting. I've tried to mix it up a bit but couldn't avoid things Italy is famous for, motorsport, Roman antiquities, volcanoes and even some WW2 sites. There'll be plenty of interest along the way, though Grizzly just likes to ride, anything else is a bonus.
We'll be away for a month and will cover, depending on how many wrong turns I make (it's Tomtom's fault really), a shade over 4,500 miles. I for one am really looking forward to it, pizza every day for a month! 😁

Benvenuti a tutti nel nuovo blog del tour di Wild Hogs. A differenza della maggior parte dei tour precedenti, e in effetti dell'ultimo, questo non è rimasto sullo sfondo in attesa di essere rilasciato. Certo, avevo pianificato un percorso generale ma nessuno degli altri pezzi e ostacoli che lo circondavano, grazie in parte al Covid-19. Dover cancellare il tour europeo due volte in un anno e poi, piuttosto frettolosamente per me, creare il tour nel Regno Unito, ha significato poco tempo a disposizione da dedicare a questo, The Italian Job.
Una volta tornato dal tour nel Regno Unito, però, sono stato
in grado di concentrarmi sulle solite attività del tour, prenotare hotel,
creare il blog, ecc., quindi ora sono in una posizione in cui tutti gli hotel
sono prenotati e posso iniziare a mettere a punto i piani, i percorsi ,
eccetera.
Perché l'Italia, ti sento chiedere. La risposta è semplice.
L'anno prossimo, Grizzly ha un grande compleanno, e ha detto che per quel
compleanno gli sarebbe piaciuto girare l'Italia, e proprio come il genio della
lampada, il suo desiderio era il mio comando. Come tutti questi tour, Grizzly
lascia i dettagli a me, quindi finché non vede il percorso che ho pianificato,
non ha la più pallida idea di dove visiteremo. Ho provato a mescolare un po' le
cose, ma non potevo evitare cose per cui l'Italia è famosa, gli sport
motoristici, le antichità romane, i vulcani e persino alcuni siti relativi alla
seconda guerra mondiale. Ci sarà un sacco di interesse lungo la strada, anche
se a Grizzly piace solo cavalcare, qualsiasi altra cosa è un bonus.
Staremo via per un mese e copriremo, a seconda di quante
svolte sbagliate faccio, un'ombra di oltre 4.500 miglia. Io per primo non vedo
l'ora, pizza tutti i giorni per un mese! 😁
