4 days in and we have got separated. It's not easy being lead rider with Grizzly. He is so slow through bends and roundabouts, not to mention his stopping to let people cross the road, that he drops back quickly. If traffic lights change or as in this case, there's a route deviation, then it can be a long solo ride for both. I should point out that I stick to the speed limits, so I'm not blasting away to leave him behind. Funny though, if he ever leads, I am the one dropping back, as he pisses along. Go figure. This time, it was probably an hour solo ride before he arrived at a garage I'd pulled into.
No sooner had we got back in convoy than we hit a big town and he was gone again. Arrived at refuelling station about 5 minutes after me. I'd already fuelled up. Apart from the sun and 30 degree temperature, not that satisfactory a first stint.
Second stint a lot better, as we managed to keep each other pretty much in sight the whole time. With no POI stops, we arrived at the hotel just before 4pm. Car park was heaving and totally not secure, so a good job we opted to pay for garage space.
There must be an airfield nearby, as an aircraft kept circling overhead, then people jumped out! Beautiful day for it, even at 12,000 feet, I should imagine.
We had few beers in the hotel bar, then went out to eat at the Roadhouse. We had a nice meal, considerably cheaper than previous nights and then another beer back at the hotel before bed.
Tomorrow we start heading south down the east coast, destination Cattolica. We have a few stops planned along the way but you'll have to wait to find out where.
Ciao
